THE MUSEUM OF KYOTO (075-222-0888)
The Museum of Kyoto is a comprehensive cultural facility whose purpose is simply to introduce the history and culture of Kyoto. In addition to an exhibition of historic Kyoto using mockups and films, arts and crafts closely associated with the city are displayed in the Crafts Room. Masterpieces of the cinema are screened in the Film Room. The museum annex was formerly the Kyoto Branch of the Bank of Japan. As representative of the Western-style buildings that were constructed in Japan during the Meiji Period, it has been designated as the national important cultural asset.
Special Exhibition"Seiji Fujishiro: The World of Light and Shadow"

Seiji Fujishiro is an artist who has established light and shadow pictures as art. His works are known as illustration in Kurashi no Techo magazine and “Keroyon” character. This exhibition presents the Fujishiro World, beautiful and illustrative, but humorous and inducing nostalgia, by means of over 180 works.

Special Exhibition
"Ikebana - A Japanese Aesthetic through Time"

Ikebana is a Japan's traditional figurative art expressed with natural flowers and trees as a motif. The exhibition traces the prismatic history of Ikebana with many exhibits with designated cultural properties, including writings and pictures such as “Kadensho”, scrolls and screens and masterpiece of flower vases. It also presents the Ikebana culture broadly through the display of resorted historical Ikebana pieces and contemporary pieces.
