The collection of the Museum consists mainly of modern arts of the world, with a particular emphasis on the artists or artistic movements in the Kansai and the western districts of Japan. The collection also includes outstanding modern Japanese style paintings and crafts of the Kyoto School as well as ceramic arts and photographs of the world.

Special Exhibition
"NOJIMA Yasuzo: Modern Japan through Nojima's Lens"

Yasuzo Nojima, a photographer active from the end of the Taisho Period through the early Showa Period, is known also as an art lover who supported activities of the artists of the same period. With some 130 works by Nojima, the exhibition focuses on his exchange with Teijiro Nakahara, sculptor, and Kenkichi Tomimoto, ceramicist with the display of some 70 items of works and literatures related with them.

Special Exhibition
"William Kentridge"

Kentridge (born in 1955 in South Africa) produces stop motion animated films, called animated drawings, by filming his charcoal/pastel drawings, making partial modifications with the use of a 35-mm motion picture camera, and filming it again one by one frame. This is his first private exhibition in Japan, displaying his profile with drawings and prints together with about 20 animated films.
