THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, KYOTO (075-761-4111)

The collection of the Museum consists mainly of modern arts of the world, with a particular emphasis on the artists or artistic movements in the Kansai and the western districts of Japan. The collection also includes outstanding modern Japanese style paintings and crafts of the Kyoto School as well as ceramic arts and photographs of the world. The Museum regularly holds both permanent exhibitions to display works mainly from their collection and special exhibitions with a special theme.

Temporary Exhibition "The Isaburo Ueno & Felice “Lizzi” Rix-Ueno Collection From Vienna to Kyoto/From Architecture to Crafts"

The exhibition pursues the history of two artists by UENO Isaburo and Felice “Lizzi” Rix-Ueno. Through the valuable drawings, magazines, and other materials by UENO Isaburo, who was a founding member of the International Architecture Society Japan, and the works by Felice Rix-Ueno demonstrating the fusion of sensibilities of Vienna and Kyoto, this exhibition will cast the footsteps of the two artists in a new light.

Temporary Exhibition
"Noboru Tsubaki GOLD/WHITE/BLACK"

On display are latest works by Noboru Tsubaki (born in 1953), who is based in Kyoto and has created shocking works since the early 1980s posing questions about the relation between arts and society, and has attracted worldwide attention as one of the most famous Japanese contemporary artists.
