The National Museum of Ethnology "Minpaku" (06-6876-2151)

The National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) is a cultural anthropological research center and museum all in one. Its permanent exhibition consists of two categories: regional and cross-cultural. The regional exhibitions cover 9 regions of the world; and cross-cultural exhibitions consist of music and language. Visitors can enjoy viewing various world cultures. Special and temporary exhibitions with particular themes take place regularly.

Thematic Exhibition "Exploration in Latin America: A Photographic Exhibition on Early Archaeological and Anthropological Field Researches"

The exhibition features photographs by Western archaeologists and ethnologists who conducted scientific investigations in Latin America from the end of 19th century until early in the 20th century.

Thematic Exhibition "Viewing the World through Coins and Banknotes"

Coins and banknotes, including stone and shell currencies selected from the museum's collections are displayed by regions and country. Children will discover just how many different countries and currencies there are in the world.

One of Minpaku's researchers can be found on the exhibition site. Please let us have your questions on subjects of your choice. Timetables and further information can be found on our website.
